Biyografi

Prof. Dr. Hilmi Ünlü, 1986 yılında ABD'deki Minnesota Üniversitesi (Minneaoplis/Minnesota) Elektrik Mühendisliği alanında doktora derecesini aldı. Daha sonra University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, ABD'de Doktora Sonrası Araştırıcı olarak çalıştı (1986- 1989). Miami Üniversitesi (Florida, ABD) Elektrik ve Bilgisayar Mühendisliği’nde Yardımcı Doç. olarak görev aldı (1990-1992). 30.11.1995-30.11.2022 yılları arasında İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi Fizik Mühendisliği Bölümü’nde Yard. Doç. Dr. (1995-1998), Doç. Dr. (1998-2005) ve Prof. Dr. (2005-2022) olarak görev yapmış ve 01.12.2022 tarihi itibarı ile emekli olmuştur. 01.03.2023 tarihinden beri Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakfı Üniversitesi Mühendislik Fakültesi Elektrik-Elektronik Mühendisliği Bölümü'nde Öğretim üyesi olarak görev yapmaktadır.

Prof. Dr. Hilmi Ünlü yarıiletken malzemelerin ve cihazların nanobilimi ve nanoteknolojisi konusunda uzmandır. Bu alanda 2008 ve 2009 yıllarında İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi’nde çok sayıda uluslararası bilim insanının katıldığı iki (2) uluslararası konferansı düzenlemiştir. Yarıiletken malzemeler ve düzenekler üzerinde yedi (7) adet uluslararası bilimsel teknik kitabın eş yazarıdır. Ayrıca ortak yazarlı dört (4) cilt Üniversite Fiziği kitabının İngilizce’den Türkçe’ye çevirilmesinde editör ve çevirmen olarak görev almıştır. Türkiye Bilimler Akademisi (TÜBA) tarafından Doğa Bilimleri alanında en iyi tercüme edilen kitap seçilmiştir. Çevrilen Üniversite Fiziği kitapları 2010 yılından beri İTÜ dahil pekçok üniversitede Genel Fizik ders kitabı olarak kullanılmaktadır. Science Citation Index (SCI) tarafından taranan uluslararası hakemli dergilerde yayınlanmış 34 bilimsel makalesi, uluslararası bilimsel konferansların Proceedings'de yayınlanmış 24 bilimsel çalışması ve Book of Abstracts'larında yayınlanmiş 35 adet bildirisi vardır.

Prof. Dr. Hilmi Ünlü çeşitli bilimsel araştırma-geliştirme projesinde Proje Yürtücüsü /veya Araştırmacı olarak görev almıştır.  Bunlar arasında, Proje Yürütücüsü olduğu ve 2007 yılında Devlet Planlama Teşkilatı (DPT) tarafından 25 Milyon TL bütçe ile desteklenen “İTÜ Nanobilim ve Nanoteknoloji Araştırma Geliştirme Enstütüsü” altyapı projesini İTÜ’ye kazandırmıştır. Bilgi: 18 Ekim 2007 gün ve 26674 sayılı Resmi Gazete’de yayımlanan 15 Ekim 2007 gün ve 2007/12701 sayılı 2008 yılı Programı’nın Uygulanması, Koordinasyonu ve İzlenmesine dair Bakanlar Kurulu Kararıyla İTÜ Nanobilim ve Nanoteknoloji İleri Araştırma Enstütüsü (Advanced Research Institute on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, İTÜ-ARI NANOTEK) projesi (Proje No: 2008KI20710).

Prof. Dr. Hilmi Ünlü, İTÜ deki eğitim-öğretim ve araştırma-geliştirme faaliyetleri yanında çeşitli kademelerde idari görevlerde bulunmştur: 1998-2003 yılları arasında Fen Edebiyat Fakültesi Fakülte kurulu üyeliği, 2005-2008 yıları arasında Fen Edebiyat Fakültsi Dekan Yardımcılığı, 2008-2009 yılları arasında Bölüm Başkanlığı ve 2010-2012 yılları arasında Bosna-Hersek Uluslararası Saraybosna Üniversitesi’nde kurucu rektör olarak görev almıştır.
